"Illegible Letter" by The Crescendo Show
The Crescendo Show is an eclectic quartet of multi-instrumentalists hailing from states across the nation. Nathan Porter is from Pennsylvania and he plays piano, guitar, accordion and is a lead vocalist. Kailyn Kubiak is from New Jersey and she plays guitar and sings lead vocals. Matt Kellam is from Indiana and he plays bass and sings back-up vocals. Ricky Carlson is the lone Oregonian of the band and he plays guitar, drums, banjo and sings back-up vocals.
The group formed in October 2008 with a focus on writing original songs. Some of their biggest musical influences include Paul Simon, The Beatles, The Libertines, Hoots & Hellmouth, Arctic Monkeys, and Flogging Molly.
In the spring of 2010 they set out to record their first album, which is self-titled and was released that October. The songs were recorded at home in Corvallis, Tillamook, and in the Corvallis Public Library. Following the debut of our first CD they gave several successful performances at various local cafes, restaurants, and gatherings. Their biggest shows were at the Troubadour Music Center and Majestic Theatre in Corvallis. They also performed in Portland at Music Millennium, and on the radio at PSU. In Eugene they performed on KWVA radio, Sam Bond’s Garage, and at the Campbell Club. They had many appearances at Café Mundo in Newport, and in Yachats at the Drift Inn. They also played the Folklife Festival in Seattle.
Using the funds that were acquired from performing they invested in new recording equipment and began work on a second album in September 2011. “Sure As The Ocean Shore” was recorded at home in Corvallis and released on April 7th 2012 to a large and welcoming audience at the Corvallis Public Library. After the show Jeremy Monroe of Freshwaters Illustrated approached the band and offered them the opportunity to write and record the soundtrack for a documentary on the Willamette River. They spent this past summer and fall of 2012 writing and recording for the film “Willamette Futures” which will be released in the summer 2013.
They are currently writing and rehearsing new material for our third full-length album, and are looking forward to raising enough funds to record in a professional studio. For more music, photos, videos and other information please visit
